Translator's Notes
"Este Vaise i Aquel Vaise" is the last section of a five-part poem entitled "Pra A Habana."
Musical Adaptation
"Este Vaise i Aquel Vaise" was set to music by the Portuguese composer José Niza for Adriano Correia de Oliveira under the title "Cantar de Emigração." The Galician folk group Fuxan Os Ventos borrowed Niza's tune, adhered strictly to the letter of De Castro's poem and renamed the piece "Iste Vaise."
